Document Summary

Everything is built a certain way to do a certain job. The four major cell/tissue types- each has a function for it: neurons/nervous tissue (motor neurons, cortical interneurons, etc. ). Ideally suited for sending and receiving messages (communication) by electrical impulses: specialized for communicating with other cell types, brain communicating to and from other organs. Biology 2160: physiology: muscle cells/muscle tissue (cardiac myocytes, skeletal muscle, etc. ). Specialized for contraction: contracting to do work, atrophy- a muscle that doesn"t contract over a long period of time will die, 3 types, skeletal- moves bone. Voluntary; holds the skeleton together and moves it: cardiac- only found in heart, smooth- found in organs. Tissues that regulate what enters and exits these cavities. Biology 2160: physiology: connective tissue cells (bone cells, blood cells, fat cells, etc. ) If changes dramatically, then the individual is not healthy: essential for survival and function of all cells.
