Document Summary

Acquisition of soil nutrients: concentrate minerals in soil water, keep the minerals in vascular cylinder symbionts. Mycorrhizae around roots (gives off exoenzymes in the soil so fungus can take them up, plant now has access to 3 mutrients); affectively fertilizing plants. Root nodules: symbiotic relationship between plant roots and nitrogen fixation bacteria help plant absorb nitrogen (ammonium or nitrate ions) Plants supplies the bacteria with sugar for energy, bacteria (fixes nitrogen in soil) produce excess ammonium or nitrate for the plant. Nothing wrong with nitrogen its just like how plants fix carbon dioxide. Cohesion of water molecules makes them stick together; resist being. Acquisition and movement of water from the roots up to the shoot. Dead cells move the water and minerals around in plant. Osmosis: movement of water from high concentration of water to low water concentration through a membrane (but needs help to move across membrane); high water pressure to low water pressure.
