This is due to the fact that mosquitoes are attracted to warm weather. After mating season has ended they become active to seek out blood and lay their eggs. Latin america but is circulating to north america. There has been no reports of local mosquito- borne zika virus cases, but it has reached the united states by method of travel. Sixteen states have seen cases of zika, not including louisiana. Rainfall contributes to the spread of the virus by washing the eggs into new regions while the eggs stay dormant until they have enough warmth to survive. The zika virus is a mosquito-transmitted infection related to dengue, yellow fever and west.
