Fieldwork: a period of time where the anthropologists collect data (time in lab, going through archives, talking with people, etc. ) The scientific study of language from a cultural perspective, how it is used what it means to a culture. 6-7 thousand languages spoken today how is language used in a society. Culture is learned behavior that is passed down from generation to generation and it is distinguished by rituals, belief systems or kinship systems from other such groups.
