Tempo is the rate of speed of the music. Common tempo markings: grave, largo, adagio, andante, moderato, allegro, vivace, presto solemn (very, very slow) broad (very slow) quite slow a walking pace moderate fast (cheerful) lively very fast. Frequently, you can encounter modifiers such as: molto, meno, poco very less a little, non troppo not too much. Other terms indicating a change of tempo: accelerando, ritardando, a tempo getting faster holding back, getting slower in time, or returning to the original pace. Dynamics denote the volume (degree of loudness or softness) at which music is played. Common dynamics include: pianissimo (pp, piano (p) very soft soft, mezzo piano (mp) moderately soft, mezzo forte (mf) moderately loud, forte (f, fortissimo (ff) loud very loud. Typical signs or words that can change dynamics: crescendo () growing softer, sforzando (sf) a forcing accent on a single note or chord, also shown by an accent mark (>)
