Sexual variations among college students paraphilias tend to occur together (sm and fetishism) study found men and women rates similar (6% sm for both) Sexual variation: domination and submission variations not rare (majority don"t participate in, but not necessarily uncommon) Fetishism sexual attraction to objects that become sexual symbols fetish usually required for arousal (absence = erectile probs) can be inanimate (shoes, hair, underwear) or animate (feet, ears, elbows, breasts) partialism: exclusive sexual attraction to body parts. Most often in private w/ willing partner. Wearing clothing of other sex for any reason almost exclusively in males (hetero and homo) Men w/ transvestism usually conventional in masculine dress and attitudes: no desire for sex-change operation. Most ppl w/ transvestism marry in hopes of curing desire to cross dress: of married have kids, wifes tolerate, not support. Sexual sensation seeking scale: assesses need for varied, novel, and complex sexual experiences and willingness to take risks to get it: not paraphilia.
