Back in the days of pong and galaga there wasn"t even a rating system yet because there did not seem to be a reason to, but that all changed as companies saw the peoples" response to violence. One of leading examples, for then and now of this is mortal kombat. A fighting type game who"s main appeal is violence and was the first to show blood in a game. Since then many games have followed there flow and have gotten ever more violent as well, including mortal kombat. But violence is not only limited to the mere gore content but also in the choices the people make in the games.
