Histology- branch of anatomy dealing with the microscopic structure of tissues. Section- a cut through the body (or an organ) that is made along a particular plane; a thin slice of tissue prepared for microscopic study. Epithelial tissue/epithelium- pertaining to a primary tissue that covers the body surfaces, lines its internal cavities, and forms glands. Basal surface- the surface near the base or interior of a structure; nearest the lower side or bottom of a structure. Microvilli- tiny projections on the free surfaces of some epithelial cells; increase surface area for absorption.
