A typical witch: the caricature of the witch is old, unattractive, disliked and female, made love to the devil and then singed a contract. Could not attend church: was tortured for confession, why confess to having sex with the devil. Female sexual fantasy: female sex drive was thought to be evil in it"s own, feel guilty for sexual fantasies. Feelings of sexual guilt: may have had a lover and used her guilt towards that to admit to a devil lover, a connection between old sexual transgression and women"s confession, people used walpurga as a scapegoat. When children died (which was common at that time) they blamed her for it: she was single. No man to control her: had the power to heal. Which also meant she had the power to kill: her crimes were everyday occurrences.
