Methods of delivery
1. Reading verbatim from a manuscript-a speech written out word for word and read to the audience
Sound natural, use eye contact, be enthusiastic, talk with your audience
2. Reciting a memorized text
Memorize it so well you can focus on communicating with audience, not remember the

3. Speaking impromptu
State the point you are answering, state point you wish to make, support your point with
appropriate statistics, examples, or testimony, summarize your point
4. Speaking extemporaneously-a carefully prepared and rehearsed speech that is presented from a brief
set of notes
Prepared properly, full control over ideas, yet you are not tied to a manuscript

Articulation-the physical production of particular speech sounds
