Document Summary

Assumptions of human nature: all human beings are motivated in part by wishes, fantasies or tacit knowledge that is outside of awareness. Assumptions of healthy and abnormal functioning: healthy functioning is all sexual desires are satisfied. Abnormal functioning is suppressed feelings that forms anger. Limitations: it s not useful for all type of clients. Patients that are psychologically disorganized might find this approach threatening because it expects them to focus on underlying issue. Clients with severe symptoms would want to relieve the unwanted effects rather than analyzing their experience and they might not be either interested or do not have the resources to continue long term treatment of psychoanalysis therapy.
