Traumatic event: one which a person is exposed to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violation. Symptoms within 4 weeks of traumatic event and last for less than a month: Acute stress disorder: disorder in which fear and related symptoms are experienced soon after a traumatic event and last less than a month.
