Efficacy expectation: your self-view influences the goals you set. Self-verification: people make sure others treat them in a way that verifies they self- concepts. Fish-and-water effect: certain personality aspects, after a long time, become invisible to the owner. Generalizability: the broader concept that encompasses reliability and validity. Funder(cid:495)s laws: your biggest advantage is your biggest weakness, there are no indicators of personality, only ambiguous clues, something is better than nothing. Expectancy effect / behavioural confirmation: you become what others expect you to become. Validity: the degree to which a measurement reflects what it was intended to measure. Note that in order for a method to be valid, it must first be reliable. Reliability is a necessary but insufficient condition for validity. Construct: something that cannot be seen or touched but explains and affects visible things. Construct validation: the testing of the assumption behind the construct. Correlation coefficient ( r ): a statistic that represents how strong a trend is.
