Typically takes about 38 weeks for mother to go into labor: chemicals released to signal uterus to start contracting 15-20 minutes and then shorter intervals. Fetal distress a condition of abnormal stress on the fetus, reflected during the birth process in an abnormal fetal heart rate. Caesarean section surgical delivery of the fetus directly from the uterus, performed when normal delivery is prohibited: pose greater risk for infection for mother.
