Chapter 16: social behaviour: social psychology: the branch of psychology concerned with the way individuals thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by others. Person perception: forming impressions of others: when you interact with people, you are constantly engaged in what, person perception: the process of forming impressions of others. But in reality there this is not the case. Cognitive schemas: schemas, they are cognitive structures that guide information processing. Individuals use schemas to organize the world around them, in cluding the their social world: social schemas, social schemas: are organized clusters of ideas about categories of social events and people. People have social schemas for events such as dates, picnics, meetings and family reunions. Individuals depend on social schemas b/c the schemas help them to efficiently process and store the wealth of information that they take in about others in their interactions.
