Document Summary
**c- structure of consciousness: conscious: controlled, self awareness (feeling, 5 senses), goes from one thing to another in sequence. Subconscious: simultaneous, automatic processing of 5 senses (when you notice your name in someone"s conversation, then their convo goes from irrelevant to relevant and moves to your consciousness) Freud"s unconscious: repressed memory, impulses, hard to retrieve (dreams), information that you are unaware of that you are repressing: non-conscious: physiological process that we are not aware of, can be influenced by conscious intent. Ex: blood pressure etc. can be affected by your mind and feelings but you are unaware of it. Goes from: easily retrievable -> not easily retrievable. There is a lot more being processed then we are even aware of. This is like an ice berg, the things at the top shift because of currents effecting the bottom. The fact that it is always changing (fluctuating, wanders etc) it"s called the flow stream of consciousness.
