Chapter 10- motivation (concentrate on social needs, not so much biological needs: motivation: comes from physiology and psychological needs. Definition: when we someone persisting at a behaviour, it is what you want (but you can"t always see what you want) it is noticed through behaviour in terms of what is driving them. Motives are needs, wants, interests that people have. Motivation propels you in a certain direction: 438 figure looking at achievement in certain situations: people very high in motivation are more likely to achieve, situation will affect your behaviour ex. If you don"t care about psychology, you won"t be very motivated in this class. Example: input lack of food, hormones (physiological) motivation food, sex. If basic physiological are met, then people start showing more humanity. Maslow said we need to pay attention to safety and security otherwise people can"t pay attention to basic things.
