Z disc is proteinatious structure, hold thin filaments in place. Z-disc: delineates the sarcomere, attach thin filament which extends towards m line. M-line: attachment of thick filament, extend towards z line. Zone of overlap: area of overlap between thick and thin filaments. A band: includes h zone + zone of overlap = length of thick filament. A band = h zone and zone of overlap = length of thick filament same. Only zone of overlap changes length, increase, not filament length. Synaptic terminal, synaptic cleft, motor end plate. Ach contained in synaptic vesicles at terminal. Ach released into synaptic cleft, attach to achr on motor end plate. Na+ diffuse down concentration gradient through the open achr channel, depolarize sarcolemma. Ap generated, ache break down ach in synaptic cleft, ap ends.
