Case plan for fungistasis fungistatics = 6-8 weks for treatment (requires good compliance) Imidazoles = fungistatics; bid; clears up in 4 wks + 2-4 wks after. Topicals: ketoconazole (some otc) 6-8 weeks bid; cure rate of 78% - fungistatic, anti-inflammatory properties so good for itch and redness; gram + effects. Differences slide = most important thing in life. Cilopirox = antifunalg + antibacterial, only 60% success rate, full spectrum, fungistatic, bid applications, shampoo & other. Steroids wouldn"t use b/c of tinea incognito; hc might be ok; use if really itchy. & red and inflamed use for a few days. Prof says it"s ok to use it if already have diagnosis (ie very convinced that pt has af, or if have culture and are sure that it"s af) Jake salicylic acid, effective, safe, inexpensive, once daily: s/e = excessive burning, irritation, compound w pad or plaster, ensure covers a little bit off the area(ss 40%);
