Restrictive lung tissue diseases influence the structure of the lung or structure of the chest, making it more difficult to inhale deeply. In some cases, restrictive lung tissue disease is caused by weakened respiratory muscles. There may be mechanical and gas exchange impairments with restrictive lung. Associated with temporary bronchoconstriction, edema (excess fluid accumulating in the tissues, causing swelling), and mucus.
