HLST 1010 Chapter 12: Chapter 12_Summar
Document Summary
Summary of chapter 12: the provision of care: professions, politics, and profit . An important point is this chapter is how women"s involvement in health care differs from that of men"s. Employment in health care is not distributed evenly between women and men. Before the 1900s a woman being trained as a medical professional was a very, very rare sight to see in. In the case that a woman was in school for medical training, she would not be greeted nicely. One would have to put up with verbal and physical sexual harassment. Prior to reading this chapter, i did not know very much about the differences between men and women"s roles in health care. After reading this chapter, i feel that i gained a lot of insight on this fact.
