Summary of chapter 9: gender, race and health inequalities . In chapter 9, one key point is the overall spending on transfers. Transfers refers to a government"s use of economic revenues, such as taxes, on services and support for the general population. The organisation for economic co-operation and development (oecd) is responsible for updating the government"s amount and use of provisions for canada, u. s. , u. k. The oecd provides an average to compare the costs for each country . The countries" social spending focused on cash, benefits in-kind, health, old age (i. e. pensions), family and incapacity. Before reading this chapter, i did not know that canada was 4% below the oecd average.
