Quizzes public on its perceptions about the ethics of business executives and other professions [groups that rank lower, stockbrokers, realestate agents, insurance and car salespeople]. Statistical analysis answers, how widespread is corporate misconduct? the researcher would have to count the transgressions publicly exposed in certain period of time. Then the total number of known misdeeds would have to be correlated with the trillions and trillions of business transactions that occur daily. Public opinion polls may be best way to gather data about the current state of business ethics, but are hardly definitive. In-depth investigative reporting of business ethics on tv shows keeps business ethics in public eye and makes it difficult to assess whether public opinion polls are reflecting the actual business ethics. It also contributes to wealth of insights on and scrutiny of the ethics of business.
