Consciousness is a state of awareness of sensations or ideas such that you can reflect on those sensations and ideas, know what it feels like to experience these sensations and ideas. Cognitive unconscious: mental activity that you"re not aware of but that makes possible you ordinary interactions with the world. It is important to distinguish the products created within your mind (beliefs you have formed, conclusions you have reached) from the processes that led to these products. We quibble about whether a particular mental step counts as a product or a process. You are unaware of your mental processes and aware of your mental products.
