There are implications for how we appreciate success and accomplishment. To be good at x is often tantamount to be better at x than the next person. To be good is to simply be better than others. Its not evident that sporting achievement have value in the objective sense. They are nothing compared to scienti c approach achievements. People should not be getting praised for how they naturally are. Some people are stronger than other naturally and may be able to lift a weight but does that make them better than their opponent. It should be based on skill instead. It can become complex based on innate and acquired abilities and unre ectively acquired abilities. Most skills involve signi cant interplay between conscious re ection and practice.
