Document Summary

Moore"s law: a prediction, named after gordon moore, the co-founder of intel, states that the number of transistors (determines how fast it will run) on a central processing unit chip will double every two years. Intel i5 (2. 6 ghz) and i7 processors are the most common. Arithmetic logic unit (alu)= performing arithmetic calculations, comparisons: machine cycle- every time a cpu programs instruction. Fetch: the required piece of data or instruction from ram the temporary storage location for all the data and instructions the computer needs while its running. Decodes: the instruction into something the computer can understand. Store: the result to the ram before fetches the next instruction. Clock speed- dictates how many instructions the cpu can process each second. Overclocking- running your cpu faster speed than the manufacturer recommends. Level 1 (built into the cpu chip itself) Level 2 (cpu chip, but slightly farther away= more storage/less fast)
