Individuals with titles such as manager, executive, and supervisor usually have more formal or assigned leadership roles. Individuals without this formal designation rely on being liked. Several personality traits have been found to have a small, but significant association with leadership. Intelligence: big five personality traits, energy, self-confidence, dominance, motivation to lead, emotional ability, honesty and integrity, need for achievement. Trait theory of leadership leadership depends on the personal qualities or traits of the leader. Difficult to determine whether traits make the leader or whether the opportunity for leadership produces the traits. Does not take into account the situation in which the leadership occurs.
