Race/ethnicity: fed crime stats don"t provide public info on race b/c it"s a human- rights violation (prevents exploitation of data by racist groups, most common hate crimes are racially motivated one (cid:883)/3 of hate crime reported to police. Asian, black, vietnamese, latin are the 4 gang groups we need to watch out for: street gangs usually multi-ethnic, canadian born, not long lives, highest participation among disadvantaged backgrounds/communities (not presented as so in media) Black youth: solomon study found that black students were in direct conflict with all-white school authority structure. Age: age related issues (1) increased in crime by youth under 12, (2) increase in overall youth crime (particularly after yoa), (3) increase in violent crime. Ab, yukon, nwt, under 17 in newfie, bc, under 18 in qb, and man: violent crime increases with age, peak in late 20s and early 30s (highest portion 15-28, 15-32 highest risk group for committing homicide.
