Politics, sex, religion: based on our values, morals, and beliefs, not rational or logical. Cognitively based attitudes: based primarily on fact, classify an object so we can tell if it"s worthwhile, ex. Behaviourally based attitudes: based on our observations of how we behave toward an object, self-perception theory. Sometimes unconscious: positively correlated when affectively based, not necessarily related when cognitively based. Theory of planned behaviour: the best predictor of a person"s planned behaviours are the persons attitude towards the behaviour, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control. Specific attitudes: the more specific, the better it predicts actual behaviour.
