It is the process by which people exchange information, feelings, and meaning through verbal and non-verbal messages. It is a process involving a series of actions. )t is not (cid:498)one-way,(cid:499) but bi-directional and interactional. Electronically mediated communication is interpersonal communication that takes places via technology. Advantages: convenient, provide a sense of security, summon aid in emergency, can share experiences with friends/family. Disadvantages: erode the barrier bw public and private life, tie people to their jobs, disrupt classroom and public events, can bring private conversatiosn into public places. The formation and maintenance of interpersonal relationships is the primary motive driving. Internet use (e. g. , bargh & mckenna, 2004) and use of emc tech. Although technology offers convenience, there are some basic rules of etiquette for cell use: quiet your phone when it will disturb others, keep calls short, keep calls out of earshot of others.
