Document Summary
Transduction - the process of sensory receptors translate the stimulus properties into the language of nerve impulses. Neural representation is compared with previously stored info in brain. Increased rewards for noticing stimuli often results in lower detection thresholds (more concentrated to find) Iris controls the pupil: lens elastic structure that becomes thinner to focus on distant objects and thicker to focus on nearby objects. Information analyzed and reconstructed in primary visual cortex is routed to other regions known as visual association cortex. Inattentional blindness: refer to failure of unattended stimuli to register in consciously: we can look right at something without seeing it if we are attending to something else, attention strongly influenced by nature and personal factors. Internal factors (motives and interests) act as strong filters and influence which stimuli are noticed. I. e. when you are hungry, you are especially sensitive to food related cues.
