Week 2: tarrow, power in movement: social movements & contentious politics pp. 1-15. Introduction tldr: an example of contentious politics in action: gaza had been experiencing heightened civil unrest when a radical group (hamas) took control in 2007. The flotilla was intentionally provocative, israel had forewarned the flotilla not to commute to gaza the attack resulted in: International community (i. e. media/press/entertainers/governments/exporting companies/unions) were outraged and quick to respond.
