Conflict is not caused by religious differences. The land they were fighting over is palestine and is known as "holy land" by 3 religions. Jews and arabs started to develop this mindset. Zionist movement sought to bring jews together, began 1882 with the first wave of jewish immigration to palestine. Jews lived on land for religious reasons, rather than national ones. Most jews emigrated from europe lived more secular lifestyle and were committed to modern and independent european nation. Early 20th: palestine was trouble spot for territorial claims and political interests. British defeat ottoman empire and took over land under hashemite rule. British said if arab army supported brits they promised an independent arab state.
