Globalization linked to a new form of empire: new sovereignty that involves neither territorial center of power nor fixed boundaries. Based on power of transnational corporations and forms of production that seek to supplant their sovereignty. End of the 30 years war, hints of ideas of international law that could transcend religious differences. First and greatest of modern european peace treaties. Concert of europe: agreement among various european powers. Nation-building: effort to develop a coherent sense of national identity. Quasi state: highlights the fact that some third world states depend so much on international community for their continued existence (sovereignty is negative) Communitarianism: morality develops within particular communities and basically holds good only for those communities. Solidarism: respecting state sovereignty and implies a broader commitment to the solidarity of human beings around the world.
