Models and theories enable program planners to give structure, organization and understanding to the program process and purpose. Theories in hp: set of interrelated concepts, definitions, and propositions that presents a systematic view of events, relations among variables in order to explain and predict events of a situation. Fully developed theory would be characterized by 3 major elements. The conditions under which these relationships do or do not occur. Models in hp: a mixture of ideas or concepts taken from any number of theories and used together, not always as specific as theories. Provide a vehicle for applying theories framework/map. Concepts: primary elements or building blocks of a theory. Construct: when a concept has been developed, created, or adopted to use with a specific theory. How models and theories work together for successful hp programs.
