Unit 5: evaluation health promotion and disease prevention methods. Introduction: necessary for any program regardless of type, size or duration. Influenced by program resources and evaluation expertise or program staff: 2 most critical and basic purposes, assessing and improving quality, determining effectiveness. In practice, summative evaluation consists of impact and outcome evaluations together. Focus on intermediate measures such as behaviour change or changes in attitude, knowledge, and awareness: outcome evaluation: associated with summative evaluation. Measures the degree to which end points such as diseases or injuries actually decreased: without evaluations claims related to program quality and effectiveness can rarely be made, * historic definitions provided in text p. 363-4. Logic model may be used in this step. Justifying conclusions: comparison of evidence against the standards of success, interpreting and judging worth or significance of program, create recommendations for action based on the results of the evaluation.
