Intimate relationships differ from more casual associations in at least 6 ways: knowledge often have knowledge of each other, caring they feel more affection for one another than do most others. Interdependence they need and influence each other. This influence lasts long periods: mutuality they see themselves as one. Often evaluated using the inclusion of other in the self scale: trust they expect each other to treat them fairly and honorably, commitment they are committed to their relationships. They expect it to continue: none are required for intimacy to occur. One possibility is that it has evolved into a natural human tendency. Loners back in the day would die due to lack of food/hunting ability. The influence of culture: compared to 1960"s: fewer people are marrying.
