Hypothalamus on (stimulation of lateral hypothalamus) and off (stimulation of ventromedial region) switches. Influenced by hormones brain influences your body, and your body influences your brain. Hypothalamus monitor blood chemistry for indicators of the levels of sugars and hormones. Glucose a sugar that serves as a primary energy source for the brain and the rest of the body. Insulin helps cells store the absorbed glucose for future use.
