Scientific method a systematic procedure of observing & measuring phenoma to answer q"s about what happens, when it happens, what causes it, & why. Theory a model of interconnected ideas & concepts that explains what is being observed. Hypothesis a specific prediction of what should be observed in the world if a theory is. Research scientific process that involves the systematic & careful collection of data. Replication repetition of an experiment to confirm the results. The scientific method depends on theories, hypothesis, & research. Good theories generates a variety of hypothesis correct: eg. interpretation of dreams, freud theorized that all dreams represent the fulfillment of an unconscious. Research does not go in a neat & orderly fashion: many significant findings are a result of serendipity, eg. Wiesel & hubel findings of rapid firing of brain cells.
