The word psychology comes from early traditions and has its roots in greek, literally meaning the study of the psyche, or soul (psyche breath, spirit, soul . Today it is better defined it as the scientific study of both behavior and mind. Initial thought related to psychology was done in philosophy, known as the philosophy of mind. Haly abbas, physician upon: the complete art of medicine, describe the neuroanatomy of the brain and also discuss a variety of mental illnesses and their treatments. Psychology: the scientific study of both behavior and mind. The scientific method is rooted in a philosophical tradition known as empiricism. Empiricism is the view that knowledge arises directly from what we observe and experience. Dualism is the relationship between behavior and mind.
