Homer was a european poet who wrote of the ancient times. Pieces of homer"s texts survived, not much. Suggested that homer"s books that survive today are a mash-up of homer"s original writings and some edits done during pisistratean times, or even by him. He noticed in homer"s poems the dactylic hexameter. Suggested that hoer is a guslari, a person whose poetry is spoken orally. Therefore, inconsistencies are forgiven since spoken words which contradict often are not caught by an audience. Guslari"s would often have filler material that would be placed in when they needed something, so repetition is common. Based off of archaeological digs, heinrich determined that the trojan war was real. Though still much debate, and no way to know for certain as homer"s stories were made to entertain, not to be accurate. Shame cultures come from falling short of an ideal. Guilt cultures come from the result of a transgression contradictory to societal norms.
