Solutions give women economic independence where racial and ethnic inequalities can further undermine the goal of equality: sources of gender inequality. Devaluation and low pay of women"s work. Women"s response of child care and house maintenance: politics. Bringing women into jobs and professions dominated by men. Emphasis on similarities between men and women which hides positive differences. Little recognition of divisions between women: race, social class. Little attention to sexual violence and rape: contributions. Abortion legalized and procreation rights became human rights. Encourage employers and governments to provide paid parental leave and to provide workplace child care. Making formal and informal gender division visible and countering its effort: men and women aren"t different, gender differences are based in biology, goal. Undoing gender: reversing and counteracting effects of gender discrimination. Gender mainstreaming: ensuring the government"s laws and organizational policies don"t negatively effect women and do address their needs.
