Concrete experience- is obtaining by seeing touching tasting smelling or hearing. Percepts- smallest bits of concrete experience which form patterns when aggregated. Ex: dot is percept, multiple dots are patterns, hearing beep is percept, beep beep beep is pattern. Abstract experience- imaginary world of the mind, world of imagination of fantasy. Concepts- abstract terms used to organize concrete experience. Proposition- ideas that result from finishing relationship between concepts. Emerge when mind connects concepts in meaningful way. Science is required to separate valid from invalid knowledge. Knowledge based on tradition where some is valid and some isn"t. Knowledge can be based on authority, where people think some things are true because we read it in a authoritative source and or hear it from an expert however they could be wrong. Knowledge can be based on causal observation. Uncertainty can be reduced by observing in a conscious and deliberate manner and by recording observations like scientists.
