Document Summary

Chapter 4: personality traits fundamental concepts and issues: personality generalization maybe true/useful in a relative sense, but they do not apply to every instance of a person"s behaviour, no single trait can characterize any person. Trait talk is a useful and natural way to account for human individuality for prediction of behaviour for stereotype. Starting point design is situated and differentiated in culture and environment. Fine tune attachment system: unique variation of genetic design as a species-blue print. Convergence evolution: similar selection pressure on different species, cause different species evolve same traits. Trait evolve together due to functional properties ex. animal have the capacity to poison others have needles. 1&2=>traits as causal mechanism, account for consistency in behaviour across situations and over time. 3&4=> traits do not really use behaviour but exist instead as convent categories for describing the behaviours that ppl show.
