In general, women participate in therapy more often than men: people aged 35-55 seek treatment more often than younger adults and the elderly. In canada, asian canadian and people of native descent are both less likely to seek mental health treatment than caucasians: therapy is more popular for canadians and americans than it is for israel, Hungary, japan, and korea: the reasons behind the diffs could be due to the degree of stigma towards mental illness to financial and other barriers that make access to treatment harder. In one study, 30% of the 1600 adults who had been diagnosed with depression or an anxiety disorder were receiving some form of therapy. Initial evidence indicates that social marketing messages succeed in increasing the likelihood that people will seek help. Involuntary treatment: sometimes people are required/forced to enter the mental health system against their will.
