Beyond the dual crisis: from climate change to democratic change. I suggest that it is incorrect to fault democracy as a political form, and moreover, that a turn to authoritarian methods would be disastrous. Yet it is evident that many changes in contemporary democracy are needed to effectively deal with the climate crisis. Argument 1 made in support of thesis (1-2 sentences) Argument 2 made in support of thesis (1-2 sentences not necessary for all readings) Democracy needs to try and correct the influence of money and corporate interests on politics and the media, so that people can pay attention to the state of our environment. Summary of evidence supporting argument 1 (1-2 sentences) There is hope for democracy as seen in the relative success of few democratic societies have had in controlling fossil-fuel pollution. For example the scandinavian state-led initiatives to bolivia"s indigenous-led efforts to push international action on the issue. Summary of evidence supporting argument 2 (1-2 sentences)
