Document Summary

In modern times, blacks scored on average, lower than european americans on iq tests. Sociology deals with this statistic not biologically, but in terms of the factors that lead to this conclusion. Iq scores are flexible and depends on the social opportunities available for the individual: the social setting in which a person is raised and educated greatly impacts iq. Iq is not biological: race and sports, black people are better than white people at sports. This idea may be supported by the significance of the black dominance in sports. Scholars believe we are all once race from africa: migration and inbreeding lead to difference races emergence, race as a biological category lost its meaning due to racial intermixing. Perception of racial difference is a social construct: a socially emergent idea: race matters because it allows social inequality to be created and perpetuated.
