Approximately 25% of canadian adults spend most of their days experiencing signi cant stress, with much of this stress stemming from their work. 40% of canadian university students reported a high amount of stress during exam time. Over 100 000 students in toronto stated that they experience high levels of stress, with 60% of students stressed in grades 7 and 8, and these numbers increasing once in high school. The medical eld has changed in the past 30 years from a biological perspective to a biopsychosocial perspective. Biopsychosocial model: the physical illness is caused by a complex interaction of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors. Prior to the 20th century, the biggest threats to health were contagious diseases that have since been prevented through improvements in medical care and nutrition, however currently this has been replaced by chronic diseases.
