Kant believed laziness and cowardice was the reason why people did not think for themselves and allowed others to control them: called this being immature. Morality is important for human well-being and that reason should be the guide for human conduct. Medieval church said how to have a proper relationship with others: do so by following the will of god. Divine command theory: morality is dependent on the will of god: what god expects from us comes from his moral nature which is fixed and therefore his expectations for us never do. God"s will was revealed in the sacred scriptures and interpreted by the church: an example of this were the ten commandments in the old testament, another example is the golden rule in the new testament. Treat others the way we want to be treated . Again, augustine used the bible as the main source of ethics.
