Cut: instantaneous change from one shot to another. Dissolve: superimposes the end of a shot with another shot. Wipe: shot b replaces shot a by a line moving across the screen. Editing shapes chronologically: there is the order of shots. Condensing/expansion duration: editing to alter the duration of story events. Elliptical editing: presents an action in a way that consumes less time on the screen than it does in the story.
